My ex-wife was housed in one of these DCFS funded hospitals after a major conflict with her parents back in the 90s. Once there she was actually gang raped by several other patients, and they did nothing about it..wouldn't even report it. It has pretty much messed her up for life and probobly had some standing in wrecking our family. Anyone who works for the DCFS pretty much collects a check for doing nothing. I hate those people. She tried reporting it to several case workers and nothing ever came of it. DCFS people are **** , and if I ever get the joy of meeting one, I will beat them to near death..that is a promise. People like them deserve Hell and nothing better. They do no good for society, they only cause harm.

Another issue is that when they don't know what to do with a child they send them to a Behavioral center and lump all the problems together. Once when my grandson, who is Bi Polar was having problems adjusting to his meds they put him in Carol Stream. This was not the place for him, he should have been in a regular hospital setting it was a medical problem not a behavior problem. There was a 17 year old Autistic boy there and for the life of me I could not figure out why. I guess his parents did not want to deal with him. I feel very sorry for these kids not so much the ones who truly have behavioral problems, but the throw aways who are put in places they don't belong.

As someone who worked there when several of these incidents happened, the staff who were in charge, the CEO, the Chief Nurse were all removed. The CEO and Chief Nurse were masters at hiding things and pushed out people who threatened to blow the whistle. They forced out the Chief of Medicine. The administration put in place now is trying hard to put this behind them and move on from this, including better staffing, better employees, and tighter regulation. I was a non-clinical employee, but everyone knows everything at that place. PSI and specifically Jeff Bergren have taken an active role in getting the programs there back on track. They've brought in people from outside REH to clean things up.
